Owners of some custom ROMs on Android were unpleasantly surprised when the first update of Chrome on Android came out a few days ago. I'm using CyanogenMod 9 on Samsung Galaxy S and, after update, Chrome would not start anymore, stating that it only runs on Android 4.0+. The solution was to restore the previous version and continue using that until a fix is found. That day was not too far off.
CM9 A2 and latest Chrome Beta Update... not compatible - Page 2 - xda-developers: "Here is how I fixed it: Back up your build.prop, and find the line for ro.build.id and change the value to IML74K. Reboot. Enjoy new Chrome update.
I haven't found that the change breaks anything."
As you can see here, the solution is rather simple if you have root and write access to /System directory. I'm using SB File Explorer for that and everything works like a charm.
